Sustainability
shaping the future
As a socially responsible company, we are committed to innovations that conserve resources and create long-lasting solutions. Through responsible production and sustainable practices, we build trust today and for generations to come.
Commitment to sustainability
Responsible business and sustainability
In all countries and regions where we operate, we strictly comply with local legal requirements and regulations. Our approach to managing sustainable development is based on clearly defined rules, policies, and codes.
The principles that guide our relationships with suppliers, customers, and business partners are clearly set out in our Code of Conduct.
Commitment to People
Health and Safety in the Workplace
Emerus is committed to creating a work environment that enables every employee to work under safe and healthy conditions. We believe that occupational health, industrial safety, and fire protection are the foundation of stable production operations. Through continuous identification of opportunities for improvement, provision of necessary training and equipment for safe work, and implementation of a proactive health and safety management system, we strive to eliminate the risk of workplace injuries and protect the health of employees and visitors. Our occupational health and safety management system is certified in accordance with the ISO 45001 standard by independent accredited bodies, confirming our commitment to the highest standards.
Aluminum
Infinite recycling
Aluminum stands out as one of the materials with the highest recycling rates worldwide. As much as 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use today. Demand for aluminum—essential to many key industries such as construction, transportation, and energy transmission—is projected to increase by more than 50% by 2050. As a result, the aluminum industry plays an important role in the green transition, both in Europe and globally.
Our sustainability path
Emerus environmental activities
Our commitment to environmental protection is evident across various segments of our production chain. We continuously strive to minimize our environmental impact throughout all business activities. Our production facilities comply with the international ISO 14001 standard for environmental management systems, as confirmed by certificates issued by accredited independent bodies.
Renewable energy sources and increasedenergy Independence
Almost 100% of our products are manufactured using electricity from renewable sources, supplied by hydropower plants and solar facilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, by installing our own solar power plant, we not only contribute to increased production of clean energy but also strengthen our energy independence.
Energy efficiency
Aware of the importance of energy efficiency and its positive impact on the environment and the community, we continuously invest efforts in improving it through various activities. These include modernizing production by using state-of-the-art equipment, implementing new environmentally friendly technologies, and introducing more efficient hydraulic systems that result in additional savings in electricity consumption.
Aluminum and the circular economy
Aluminum is a leader of the circular economy: it can be recycled infinitely without loss of properties, and recycling uses up to 95% less energy than producing primary aluminum. This significantly reduces the carbon footprint, especially in construction, mobility, and packaging, while aluminum recycling rates are among the highest in Europe. The circular economy is based on resource renewal, waste elimination, and the use of renewable energy—unlike the linear “take–make–dispose” model.
Waste management
We base our waste management on the 4R principles (Reduce–Reuse–Recycle–Recover). Our facilities are equipped with water treatment and recirculation systems, and we minimize waste through internal recycling as well as cooperation with partners and suppliers. The recycling rate of our waste streams continues to increase year after year.

Environment
Environmental Impact of Our Products
EMERUS ensures transparency. Most of our products have EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) environmental declarations, prepared in accordance with international standards (ISO 14025, EN 15804). An EPD is an independently verified report that transparently and comparably presents a product’s environmental impact throughout its entire life cycle, measuring these impacts using the standardized LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) methodology. It includes 37 environmental parameters, such as global warming potential, ozone layer depletion, acidification, eutrophication, generation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, recycling rates, ecotoxicity, and more. The independence and certified nature of EPDs ensure accurate and reliable information.
EPDs play an important role in the construction sector, as they enable designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to better understand sustainable products and their environmental impact. Certification systems such as LEED and BREEAM set sustainability criteria and introduce specific requirements for buildings. In addition, products compliant with international sustainability standards form the basis of green public procurement (GPP – Green Public Procurement).

Low-Carbon Aluminum Alloys
We actively advocate sustainability and enable our customers to do the same: by choosing EMERUS, they can opt for aluminum alloys with a low carbon content, i.e., raw materials that contain a higher share of recycled material.
The guiding principle in planning our future business development is SUSTAINABILITY, which implies a special responsibility toward the environment as one of our most important resources. Our goal is to reduce our environmental footprint, thereby supporting the objectives of the European GREEN TRANSITION in achieving climate neutrality and zero pollution.
